Samu Raatikainen


Samu Raatikainen was born in Helsinki, Finland in 1971. In 1995 he moved to Spain for a year, and then lived in the UK for 14 years. He moved back to Finland in 2010 and now lives in Pori.

He studied at The Free Arts School in Helsinki and completed a MA in Painting at Chelsea College of Art & Design in London in 1997.

In 2003 he was nominated the Young Artist of the Year in Finland.

His earlier three dimensional paintings were minimalist in style, consist of simple colour, mark and form.

His new works have more organic base, with figurative elements referring to man-made structures and concepts.
